I made a very minor change—one word for a synonym with, essentially, the same meaning in context—and was writing a note to explain my decision to change it.

When I started a sentence with “If this is too minor a quibble…”, I realized that it was. If you have to clarify that your correction might be too small to matter, it very often is.
